Further Education Mastery Specialist Recruitment -NOW OPEN!

Cheshire and Wirral Maths Hubs are seeking to appoint teachers/leaders with a passion for Maths who can work with schools in the following areas: Cheshire West and Chester, Cheshire East, Wirral, Halton.

Following the success of the Primary and Secondary Mastery Specialist Programmes, Maths Hubs, working in conjunction with the NCETM, are now seeking applications from Further Education establishments that wish to nominate ‘lead teachers’ to take part in an important two-year professional development programme leading to the designation of Further Education Mastery Specialist. The programme is aimed at those who teach GCSE Mathematics resit and/or Functional Skills Qualifications (FSQs).

The first step will be to start training Mastery Specialists in this area of maths teaching – mirroring the programmes that have led to around a thousand active Primary and Secondary Specialists supporting teachers of lower age-groups. The first cohort, in this new area of teacher and school/college support, will begin their programme in 2023/34. A small pilot group will start work during the 2023 summer term
