Supporting Subject Knowledge for Teaching Mathematics - Primary Teachers and TAs

The Cheshire and Wirral Maths Hub is now offering places on two Work Groups aimed at helping primary teachers and teaching assistants develop their subject knowledge for teaching mathematics (SKTM). This involves unpicking some of the essential aspects of the primary mathematics curriculum and looking at how pupils learn these in small incremental steps.

Within this Work Group, participants will:

  • enhance their maths subject knowledge with an emphasis on the key structures in each mathematical area covered
  • understand the key elements that form number sense, forms of addition and subtraction, forms of multiplication and division, and forms of fractions, including precise language, structures and representations
  • review their practice as a result of the sessions and make specific adaptations to impact on pupil outcomes.

Who can apply?

This programme is designed for primary teachers or teaching assistants who would like to further develop their specialist knowledge for teaching maths.

How do you apply?

These Work Groups are now fully booked. If you are interested in something like this next year, please get in touch via e-mail.
